Host: The Bulldog Club of Greater St Louis
I was raised on a Cattle Ranch in Northern California. During my summers in High School, I worked for a local Veterinarian. My sense for animal husbandry was developed at an early age. Besides ranch work and sports, I also enjoyed showing Polled Herefords in 4-H & FFA.
When the family was living in Mesa, Arizona in the early seventies, I developed a friendship with the neighbor’s white bulldog. For my birthday in 1982, Mary and the children gave me our first bulldog – FERD. After enjoying a number of pets, Mary & I decided to buy a puppy show dog. Ch. Rudyk’s Louie-Louie. He was one of the best.
ManorBorn Bulldogs was established in 1990. After eleven short years, Mary and I finished close to 25 champions in the US, Canada and Mexico. All of these bulldog wins were accomplished through a limited breeding program.
I have enjoyed working with the Bulldog Clubs as well. I was President of the Motherlode Bulldog Club, a Board Member of Bulldog Club of Denver, and Vice President of Tampa Bay Bulldog Club, however, the most auspicious position I ever held was Kennel Help for ManorBorn Bulldogs. One of my mentors was Brenda Newcomb. I assisted her in the Judges Education for a number of years at the Nationals.
My judging assignments have taken me all over the U.S, to Japan, Brazil, and Bogota, Columbia. Through the years, my bulldog family has grown to include many friends as well as many beautiful bulldogs.
I am thankful for the opportunity to judge bulldogs at the 2025 BCA Nationals.
