My love of the Bulldog is an inherited one. My great grandmother owned them on the family dairy ranches in Northern California at the turn of the last century. I, however, didn’t own one of my own until 1982.
We joined The Bulldog Club of America in 1987. In 1989 we started going to dog shows up and down the state of California with friends who bred and showed Bouvier de Flanders. After studying the standard, & talking with breeders, I flew to Canada and purchased our first show dog, Ch. Rudyk’s Louie Louie. I finished him myself at a very young age. He went on to finish in the top ten In the Non Sporting Group 1993.
Mentors were a very important part of my early years in Bulldogs. Randy and Donna Rudyk didn’t just sell us a dog, they were there for us with advice on integrity, health, responsible breeding practices, and support whenever and wherever we needed it. At one of the first Nationals I attended, I was introduced to June Sickle. She was so kind and educated me on the finer points of the Bulldog form and movement. I always sat with her for a bit after that. Jean Hetherington, Karl and Joyce Dingman, and Bob Newcomb, to name a few, we’re always willing to talk to a ‘newbie ‘.
Over the years I have enjoyed serving as a Governor and Vice President in Division III, a Counselor in Division IV, President of the Bulldog Club of Denver, President of the Greeley Kennel Club, and Board of Director for Tampa Bay Bulldog Club.
My husband and I bred for quality not quantity. We are honored to be in the Breeder Hall of Fame. One of our foundation females that we purchased won the Beckett Award. A second Beckett Award was won by the daughter of our other foundation female.
I have had the privilege of judging at numerous prestigious shows, both at the national and international levels, giving me invaluable experience in evaluating Bulldogs to the highest standard. My judging philosophy emphasizes type, soundness, and temperament.
I am excited to be here. Thank you for inviting me.
